1869
Way back in 1869 in the USA, the first recorded use of the term "Black Friday" was in fact nothing to do with winter holiday shopping, but instead was due to a financial crisis - The collapse of the US gold market was when the term was coined.
1950's
Around the 1950's in Philadelphia, the term was often used by the Police, who started referring to the day after Thanksgiving as "Black Friday". This began because it was a day that nobody wanted to be at work, due to massive traffic jams, overcrowded city streets filled with shoppers and also sports fans travelling to the Annual local American Football game.
1961
"Black Friday" caught on with retailers in Philadelphia, as the start of the Christmas shopping season. They tried to change the name to "Big Friday" however, this did not catch-on.
1980's
Retailers re-invented Black Friday as a positive experience. Turning it into a day where American stores finally made a profit. This then spread across the USA.
2010
Amazon began offering "Black Friday discounts" in 2010, though not many of us noticed or took advantage! This was the first real time a discount day before Christmas happened, traditionally it was unheard of until Boxing Day.
2013
Many big name UK stores began to offer in-store savings, and in 2013 sparked the trend which would begin Black Friday as we know it in the UK.
What are our customers saying
"Great driver Eli, very efficient, competent and polite. Delivery perfectly to schedule. Best system by far, with a continual update on actual delivery time. I’ve not experienced Leader previously, all I can say from today’s experience is, simply brilliant"

"Ordered on the Friday and chose next Friday for delivery. Emails were sent before hand to allow me to know they were dispatched, got a call 20 minutes before delivery and the delivery driver was so lovely. The price was great too."

"I needed my items fast and Leader were the only company able to meet my needs. The delivery was fully tracked and they even brought the items into my garage. Most other companies I've used only deliver to the kerb, not ideal this time of year!
