Top tips for Black Friday

When is the best time to shop?

Last year thousands of customers were ready to shop Thursday at midnight, and because we're online you can shop 24 hours a day to your hearts content. Our event is running all week up until midnight 30th November, but please note, some offers will be limited on stock so the earlier you receive the deals the better (hint, hint, sign-up!!)

Can I see my products first?

Yes! We stock over £1,000,000 worth of stock and with our showroom attached it's super-easy to pop-down and see the goods before you take them away. Please note though, our Black Friday deals often include stock sensitive items, which generally prove to be extremely popular, so we recommend calling ahead first to avoid disappointment. For directions to our store, click here.

What are the most popular deals?

Our clearance "loss-leader" deals were extremely popular last year, with lots of doors, floors & more available at one-off clearance prices. We also hand-pick featured products and sometimes even offer discount codes for others who prefer to choose from a wider range of products!

Have you made yourself a wish list?

While we can't reveal what exactly will be available in the Black Friday/Cyber Monday event at Leader, why not make a wishlist? Just look out for the add to wishlist or heart button across our product pages, then give it a click to add it to your Black Friday wishlist.

Don't take our word for it

Definitely shop here again

"Had my doubts about getting my door in time, as I'd never shopped here before and it was a busy Black Friday. However Leader Doors managed to deliver with no problems whatsoever and the deal I got was great."

Well informed

"Ordered doors on the Friday and chose next Friday for delivery. Emails were sent before hand to allow me to know they were dispatched, got a call 20 minutes before delivery and the delivery driver was so lovely. The price was great too."

Billingham, 10/12/2017

Staff were brilliant

"I travelled to the store and the lady who served me was very friendly. She helped me find what I was looking for as the shop was busy on Black Friday. Quick & easy just how it should be!!"

Seaham, 29/11/2017

Highly recommend

"Great quality goods with faceted glass. Well packaged with no damages on arrival. I ordered 4 doors at really good prices and Leaders delivered them when promised."

Brief history on Black Friday

Way back in 1869 in the USA, the first recorded use of the term "Black Friday" was in fact nothing to do with winter holiday shopping, but instead was due to a financial crisis - The collapse of the US gold market was when the term was coined.

Around the 1950's in Philadelphia, the term was often used by the Police, who started referring to the day after Thanksgiving as "Black Friday". This began because it was a day that nobody wanted to be at work, due to massive traffic jams, overcrowded city streets filled with shoppers and also sports fans travelling to the Annual local American Football game.

"Black Friday" caught on with retailers in Philadelphia, as the start of the Christmas shopping season. They tried to change the name to "Big Friday" however, this did not catch-on.

Retailers re-invented Black Friday as a positive experience. Turning it into a day where American stores finally made a profit. This then spread across the USA.

Amazon began offering "Black Friday discounts" in 2010, though not many of us noticed or took advantage! This was the first real time a discount day before Christmas happened, traditionally it was unheard of until Boxing Day.

Many big name UK stores began to offer in-store savings, and in 2013 sparked the trend which would begin Black Friday as we know it in the UK.

How has it changed high street & online shopping in the UK? Well, November is the new December. Many people believe people aren't necessarily spending more, they're just spending earlier in the year. What would traditionally have been spent in Boxing Day sales, has now shifted slightly towards November & Black Friday.
